Year of Artful Journeys
In celebration of ECCO Art Gallery’s one-year anniversary, A Year of Artful Journeys presents the works of six remarkable local artists: Ann Shier, Holly Edwards, Rowena Dykins, Annette Vlieg, Kay Gregg and Mary Anne Johnston. This exhibition captures the transformative power of art over a year marked by both the weight of loss and the joy of new beginnings.
Through their pieces, these artists reveal a deeply personal journey of resilience and renewal. Each artwork is a testament to the healing potential of creativity, offering a hopeful look at what lies ahead. As we close this year and look forward, A Year of Artful Journeys serves as both a reflection on the past and an invitation to embrace a bright, evolving future.
Join us in celebrating this milestone, where each story woven into the art reminds us that no matter how winding the road, art will light the way forward.
Reflections
For over 30 years, Pina Romano has felt a deep connection to the Koi fish, a symbol that has become central to her work. The Koi's graceful movements and seamless integration with its environment embody the beauty of simply being oneself. This is the message she hopes to share with viewers: there is profound beauty in embracing who you are.
Kathleen Potter has been inspired by the Kawartha surroundings. This has provided her with an ever changing landscape. You will find this beauty portrayed in her creations. She paints both present day landscapes and objects, as well as, free and organic styles.
Scenes From My Canoe
David Kerr
A local artist and geologist. With a passion for canoeing and trekking in the wilderness, he finds his inspiration to paint and write about nature. He paints landscape scenes using bold colours and thick textures. In order to create a feeling that one is within a painting, he applies the paint in layers with a palette knife.
