Mother and Daughter

Discover the Harmony of Textile Art and Fine Photography: A collaborative showcase of Stephanie Ford Forrester and her daughter Corin Ford Forrester.

Stephanie's mastery unfolds in every stitch as she crafts intricate pieces using raw silks, batiks, and fine cottons. Her exploration extends to painting on fabric with liquid dyes, resulting in exquisite hand-worked creations that resonate with elegance and depth. With a legacy spanning 23 years as part of the Art Gallery of Peterborough’s Kawartha Autumn Studio tour, Stephanie's artistry continues to mesmerize and inspire.

Drawing inspiration from serene wilderness landscapes across Ontario, Corin's photographic vision captures the essence of nature's beauty. Through digital alchemy akin to painting with a brush, she weaves a tapestry of imagery, blending multiple photographs to evoke unexpected juxtapositions and intricate patterns. Central to her work is the poignant reflection on the significance of the natural world, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in moments of contemplation and wonder.

SPARK Photo Festival

In making photographs, I view the world in two different and distinct ways. Firstly, as a bigger picture, documenting the world as a complex, yet recognizable scene and secondly as a smaller picture, a less recognizable world, detached from a bigger subject.

Fragments reflects my observations into less noticeable places. A bigger subject has been fragmented into small pieces, showing something less apparent and easily passed by. These smaller lesser seen observations bring to life the complexity of our world, not only a discovery but at times a revelation.

April Showers

According to the old saying...

“April showers bring May flowers” originated from a short poem written by Thomas Tusser in 1557. The meaning behind is that even the most unpleasant circumstances can bring enjoyable things.

ECCO Art Gallery Studios invites you to join in celebrating this most enjoyable collection of floral works of Apsley glass artist, Susan Rankin and Peer Christensen a fine art painter from Peterborough.

“The classical technique of building up successive opaque and transparent paint layers yields the luminosity that has come to define Christensen’s style.”

“As an avid gardener, Susan continues to explore the idea of garden through her vessel and sculptural works and is well know for her vibrant floral vessels.”

Also on exhibit at ECCO Art Gallery Studios are floral works from the gallery roster of local artists Rowena Dykins, Holly Edwards, Ann Shier, and Kay Gregg.

Lords and Ladies

ECCO Art Gallery Studios presents “Lords and Ladies” an exhibition featuring an exciting new collection of mixed media collage/assemblage works by artist Kay Gregg.

“There was something about a big box of vintage brass rubbings and discarded mannequins that appealed to me.”

"Medieval Middles" - merchandiser forms wrapped with the metallic rubbings and embellished with repurposed trimmings and found jewellery - with each regal body there must be the right accessory... Haute Stuff. Enjoy, fellow Maximalists.

This exhibition also includes a selection of profound portraits by Peterborough artist Nancy Simmons Smith. Nancy has been making art for 35 years and exhibiting since 2001.

For Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot...
ECCO Art Gallery Studios presents “for Auld Lang Syne” an exhibition featuring mixed media collage works by artists Elayne Windsor and Kay Gregg celebrating memories and times gone by through the process of collaging repurposed paper and ephemera including images and stories of the past.

Elayne has a strong art background, nurtured through classes and workshops during her 30 years as an elementary school teacher.
“with my collages I hope to usher you into a new reality. Among the minute fragments in my decollages, partial images are revealed reminding you of moments of travel, work life or everyday life.”

Kay started painting with oils and representational work, then journeyed toward abstract expression.
“a self-described maximalist, I delight in curating and composing - and big, bold colour always foremost in the process.”

Also, introducing latest works from one of ECCO Art Gallery Studios roster favourite, Annette Vlieg. "Connection"... but they can turn away from each other... then what is it about?
Also on exhibit at ECCO Art Gallery Studios are works from the gallery roster of local artists Holly Edwards, Rowena Dykins, Christianna Ferguson, Mary-Ann Johnston, Ann Shier and Pina Romano
