Encouraging reflection on the beauty and significance of the natural world is central to Canadian fine art photographer Corin Ford Forrester’s art.
“Photographing nature and landscapes can be very meditative. It calms my busy mind and expands my awareness of the exquisite world around me. I'm provided with the raw materials and inspiration for integrating multiple images into new artworks.”
Corin studied traditional black and white photography at the Haliburton School of the Arts where she received the highest standing in the Sir Sanford Fleming College Photo Arts Program in 2007. Coming full circle she taught in the program in November 2022. She also has a degree in Microbiology from the University of Guelph.
Although Corin began her photography career in the darkroom working with film, she now shoots, layers and blends and prints images digitally. She often prints her own fine art photographs using archival papers and pigment inks. She has exhibited and sold her photographs in festivals and galleries in Ontario including the Elaine Fleck Gallery in Toronto.
During the fall of 2022 her image Arboreal Observation #5-Pine was on display at the Orillia Museum of Art & History as part of The Carmichael Canadian Landscape Exhibition: Tradition Transformed.
In April 2023 Corin is pleased to be showing work at FotoNostrum in Barcelona Spain having won an honourable mention in the 19th Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers in the single image and series categories for professional photographers.
Her studio near Carnarvon ON will be open to the public as part of The Tour De Forest, August 5 & 6 2023 and The Studio Tour Haliburton Highlands on the first two weekends of October 2023. Her work is also available at The Corner Gallery in Haliburton ON.
