Holly Edwards -
Through painting and mixed media materials I develop my art by making a mark and responding to that impression. I am ever captivated by the quiet conversation I have with my art and humbled by the vulnerability of remaining open to the experience of creating.

My process involves creating art daily, often working in a series to express an idea or emotion.  I work with both acrylic and oil paints, as well as various printmaking techniques, such as monotypes, collagraphy and suminagashi, to create collage papers for my mixed media pieces.  At times I incorporate soft pastels, inks, oil pastels, coloured pencils, and decorative Washi (Japanese Papers) into my art. By using different mediums I am continuously challenged by what I create and able to develop layers of colours and positive and negative shapes to balance harmony and tension in my work.
